Media Release - Investing in the Leederville Oval Redevelopment
INVESTING IN THE LEEDERVILLE OVAL REDEVELOPMENT
TUESDAY, 1 APRIL 2025
A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will put $1.5 million towards the redevelopment of Leederville Oval, bringing new life to this important community facility.
This election commitment will support the delivery of new changerooms, ensuring that Leederville Oval grows with the expanding demand for Tier 2 sporting facilities in Perth.
Leederville Oval has long been a hub for sporting clubs and community groups – its first grandstand was built in 1920, and its last major upgrade was 1962.
This redevelopment will not only enhance the facilities but broaden opportunities for participation and engagement in women’s football across all ages and abilities, as well as providing a permanent home to the East Perth and Subiaco WAFL clubs.
The project will be delivered in partnership with the City of Vincent, ensuring a facility that meets the needs of the community now and into the future.
Labor Member for Perth, Patrick Gorman said he was pleased to announce this investment for the Perth community.
“We are committed to investing in infrastructure that strengthens community connections and promotes active lifestyles,” Mr Gorman said.
“This funding will enable Leederville to provide a modern, inclusive, and sustainable space for everyone to enjoy.”
Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
