Release of Trust in Australian Public Services Survey Results

The Albanese Government has today released the second annual report outlining findings from the 2022-23 Survey of Trust in Australian public services.

Delivering on our commitment to annually release this report publicly for increased transparency and trust in our Australian Public Service.

Key findings from the Survey include:

  • Overall trust in public services has remained stable, with 61% of people reporting they trust public services, the same as last year.

  • Three in four people are satisfied with public services, and 30% of people who distrusted services were still satisfied with them.

  • The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry had the largest increase from 2022 with an eleven percentage point increase, followed by the National Disability Insurance Scheme, with a five percentage point increase

  • Stable levels of trust and satisfaction mean public services are keeping up with rising levels of expectations.

People were most satisfied with their experiences with staff and the information they were given while accessing services.

People were least satisfied with public service processes.

The Survey asks 1,000 Australians every month about their experience of public services over the previous 12 months.
